Theme & Title

The theme for the competition is Perspective.

Title: A day in the life of …

Based on the theme "A day in the life of...", decide whom or what (yes, WHAT!) you want to be and write your story. Whether it is a real person (past or present), a fictional character, an animal, or even an object, you get to decide which perspective to write from!

Ps, feel free to incorporate drawings to complement your story!

Format

  • Written in English.
  • Maximum of 500 words.
  • The author’s name should be included in the document or file name.
  • Submit as either a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF file.
  • IMPORTANT😎: All submissions must be completed by the author alone. If you are over the age of 11, please refrain from providing assistance. 😇

The closing date for submissions is Monday, 10 June 2024, at 23:59. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, via email and social media.

Prize

  • 1st Prize: $100 cash
  • 2nd Prize: $70 cash
  • 3rd Prize: $50 cash

*For T.A.S. Students, the cash prize can also be converted to class points / Tbux.

T.A.S. Writing Competition Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility
The competition is open to students residing in Singapore, aged 9 to 11 years old.

2. Entry Deadline

All entries must be submitted by 10 June 2024, 23:59 Singapore Time. Late entries will not be accepted.

3. Prize Collection

Prize collection for winners will be coordinated via email. Participants will need to bring a form of identification for verification.

4. Announcement of Winners

Winners will be announced via email and on The Alternative Story's social media platforms (Facebook & Instagram) on 19 June 2024. The selection of winners will be at our sole discretion.

5. Intellectual Property

By submitting an entry, participants grant The Alternative Story the right to use their writing for marketing purposes. The child's name will be included in any such usage.

6. Disqualification

Entries may be disqualified for reasons including, but not limited to, plagiarism and failure to follow submission guidelines.

7. Privacy Policy

The Alternative Story respects the privacy of individuals and recognises the importance of the personal data entrusted to us. We are committed to properly managing, protecting, processing, and disclosing your personal data.
